1. Tongue Ad (Coffee-Mate, 2025)
Honestly, this is the weirdest ad out of all the ones I could find. First of all, it’s honestly pretty tough to tell what the ad is even for. Coffee Mate definitely isn’t the obvious sponsor of the ad. Second of all, the tongue’s actions are pretty grotesque and the tongue even leaps out of the dude’s mouth, which is an image that will stick with the viewer for a long time. On the economic side, this ad works because it is super memorable and generated a fair amount of press.
2. Body Paint (GoDaddy, 2012)
This ad has the best hook out of all the ads on this list. It shows a nude model getting body paint from a series of painters. The body paint spells out “GoDaddy.com,” and then the commercial ends with a link on the screen to “see more.” Obviously the content of the ad has absolutely nothing to do with what GoDaddy does, but the ad is surely memorable.
3. PuppyMonkeyBaby (Mountain Dew, 2016)
This ad is probably the most famous Super Bowl ad of all time, and it’s also one of the weirdest. It features a mutant that is one third puppy, one third monkey, and one third baby that dances on a coffee table and hands out Mountain Dew. 10/10 for creativity and memorability, but I’d argue that this ad is less weird than either the tongue ad or the body paint ad because it lacks the shock factor.
4. DoberHuahua (Audi, 2014)
This is an ad for Audi, but you wouldn’t know it until the last 10 seconds. The main plot of the ad is a hilarious hypothetical in which a couple compromises between a Doberman and a Chihuahua, yielding a “Doberhuahua.” This breed has a cartoonishly large Doberman head on the frail body of a Chihuahua. They start spreading, and chaos ensues. Then, they show a message that says “Compromise scares us too,” clearly alluding to the fact that Audis don’t compromise on anything and that they’re the best in every area.
5. Beard Combover (Sierra Mist, 2007)
This was the funniest ad on the list and is also extremely weird. It shows a dude who is getting fired because of “questionable decision making” who has a beard combover. If you don’t get the visual, it is a guy who has a super long beard that is combed onto the top of his head. Absolutely hilarious. Also, he gets up and is wearing super short jean shorts and rollerblades, which just adds to the weirdness.
6. Middle Seat (Doritos, 2015)
I think this was my favorite ad. It shows a man who is sitting next to an empty middle seat and doing a whole variety of things to discourage people from sitting next to him. He blows his nose, reads a book on managing IBS, and even clips his toenails. Eventually, he notices an attractive woman coming down the aisle, and pulls out a bag of Doritos to entice her to sit next to him. The commercial ends with him realizing that she has a crying baby with her, which is obviously disappointing to him.
